The project has been busy over the past month, focussing on all of the locations that gave consent over the summer. A flurry of installations with some great people on board to expand the project into mid and north Devon. Every time I drive out to survey or install, I see another 5 churches which show great potential for swifts! The following selection of photos summarises the recent work. Please check out the Map Locations (Click Here) to see where they are and see where we’ve surveyed. Thanks, Jerry.
Lympstone, Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary
Incredible patterns in the stairwell, don’t slip though!
Nestboxes installed on 3 elevations
All installed, 48 chambers. Many thanks to the amazing support from the church members and community 🙂
Arlington, St. James’ and East Down, St. John the Baptist.

Many thanks to Rosie, Jo, and the PCC’s at the Shirwell Mission Community for their support. 🙂
Loxhore, St. Michael and All Angels
Tricky ladder access x 2, so I had to make the boxes fit the gaps. There wasn’t much room in the bell chamber so I had to contort myself into a few different shapes. Thanks to Ray for permitting access and for being the Loxhore Swift Champion with Nicola.
Mamhead, St. Thomas’.
A unique configuration with pierced diamond pattern lead screens.
Swimbridge, St. James’.
Some more tricky access with a small gap….not sure i’d fit through after Xmas!!
Reverend Cathy, who is the Swift Champion for Swimbridge, with the nestboxes.
Many thanks to Mark, Cathy, all the church members and community of Swimbridge for their support. 🙂
Salcombe Regis, St. Mary & St Peter’s.
Thanks to Laura and Laura 🙂
Many thanks to Nicola, Tom, Laura, and the PCC for their support 🙂
Ilfracombe, Holy Trinity.
Martin, opening up for the installation 🙂
Some tricky access constraints with a few things to bump our heads on! A rewarding installation though, and some nice biscuits for a snack from Sue Cooke. Many thanks Martin and Sue. 🙂
